为了促进古典音乐的发展与传播，同时，为青年管弦乐器演奏家搭建一个交流展示的平台，1988年，音乐和体育传播大使Ian Dunsmore决定创办吉斯伯恩国际音乐比赛，至今，该比赛已经成功的举办了26届了，2015年第27届比赛已经启动，感兴趣的朋友可以报名参赛。
往届新西兰吉斯伯恩国际音乐比赛资料
第27届音乐比赛将于2015年11月30日至2015年12月5日在新西兰的吉斯伯恩举行。比赛共设置了小提琴，中提琴，大提琴，低音提琴，双簧管，长笛，单簧管，巴松，萨克斯，法国号，小号，长号，大号，打击乐/定音鼓，竖琴等15个比赛类别。 面向出生于1989年12月6日至1999年11月30日之间的音乐家开放，不限国籍。有意参赛的朋友请于2015年9月25日前报名。
备注：报名资料需要至少5-10个工作日通过国际快递到达境外组委会进行审核，建议选手提前15个工作日报送资料到中国华夏文化集团兰乔圣菲文化传播，以免延误。
参赛曲目：
Each competitor will submit with the official entry form a 45-55 minute balanced, contrasting programme comprising a minimum of three different works, including at least one unaccompanied work, from at least two of the following musical periods: Baroque/Classical/Romantic/Post 1900.
For the first and semi final rounds the jury will select from each competitor submitted programme a 25-30 minute recital that could include a section of a complete work. All works by New Zealand composers and JS Bach will be performed in the first round. Finalists will select from their submitted programme a recital of 30-35 minutes in consultation with the jury.
Competitors must report to the stage manager 45 minutes prior to their performance time to be notified of the works to be played (first and semi final rounds only).

一等奖(Ian Dunsmore纪念奖)：9,000新西兰元(由Jack Richards教授赞助)+2017年与惠灵顿管弦乐团的独奏会合约;
二等奖：5,000新西兰元
三等奖：3,000新西兰元(由Robin Briant博士赞助)
最具潜力演奏家：1,500新西兰元(由Deane Endowment Trust赞助)
Pultron演奏奖：1,000新西兰元，颁发给新西兰作曲家作品的最佳演奏者
Holdsworth Family巴赫奖：750新西兰元，颁发给巴赫作品的最佳演奏者
Antonio Strings弦乐演奏奖：1,000新西兰元
Anne Tolley木管/打击乐演奏奖：1,000新西兰元(由Hon Christopher Finlayson赞助)
Edgar铜管演奏奖：1,000新西兰元
